5Why do phones keep getting larger?? This phone is small and awesome!!!!
By J. Buys
After reading other reviews i was reluctant about buying this phone. Once again GLAD I DID NOT LISTEN to the idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This phone is AWESOME!!!! A++++No, im not some iphone idiot, ive used many many diff types of phones. Oldskool candybars, 5+ diff nokia, iphones, and my last phone was the HTC Aria, great phone, small footprint, decent processor and screen. It was old and slow by todays standards so i shopped around for a LONG time before even finding the Ray.I am totally impressed by this phone. Screen is awesome, colors, brightness, dimness, quality etc... Responsiveness is great. I dont know what other reviewers were talking about with too responsive or not responsive enough, it works great, even with animated menus on. If your not used to capacitive touch, maybe that is their problem?Camera is great, with flash!Processor is crazy fast. 1 ghz scorpion or snapdragon, sites quote different names, either way FAST!Battery life is decent. All day, 2 or 3 short calls, inet browsing, 10ish texts, and bluetooth to car stereo with web stream on the drive in and home (15min ea) = 20% or so by 6pm. Not bad i think.Speakers are awesome, reminds me of my nokia N-series days. If you had one, you know what i mean.WIFI tether works out of the box.Can install non-market apps no problem.Back cover is the color of the phone, so dont like it, just buy another cover, BAM, phone is a diff color. (ahh yes, the nokia days!)The best..... Upgradeable to 4.0 in april!!!!Cons:built in touch keyboard. Seriously? a numberpad? LOL go to the market and download a new one. easy fix.Google and sony apps everywhere, cant uninstall them. Have to root for that. Phone is by no means slow or crippled with them though.Lastly, If you have fingers that are as fat as hotdogs then this phone is NOT for you!

5Solid Phone
By itsamecameron
I have been using this phone for a few days with my straight talk SIM card with no issues. The phone itself has excellent build quality, it feels dense and sturdy in my hands but not overly heavy. The design is very simple yet elegant I love the half circle notification light that glows amber when charging, green when full and white when there is a notification. The soft touch black back feels good in my hands and the metal edges are a nice touch. The power button placement makes perfect sense to me, but be aware that if you hit the home key it will turn on the unlock screen same as the top power button. I find myself using the home button to turn the phone on and the power button to put it to sleep more often than not but it could drain your battery if you hit the home button numerous times in your pocket.I have not had any issues with the screen being over or under sensitive. I enjoy the actual home button with the capacitive touch back and menu since I use those less. I have noticed that none of the buttons are back lit which might be an issue for some, but the glowing ring around the home button and the feel of the button itself seems simple enough to use as an indicator. The screen is simply beautiful. The sharpness is unlike any device I have used short of an iPhone 4. The mobile Bravia engine seems to do its job with no stutter or lag. Watching movies on it is a joy and pictures really do look amazing. It may not be as vivid as a AMOLED but it doesn't look artificial like they tend to. The screen looks quite natural and realistic to me. The onboard speaker works well for such a small phone with media playback, however the speaker phone is a little lacking in volume. The phone is absolutely microscopic. Google a size comparison to see what I mean. I did this and had an idea how small it was compaired to my Nokia E71 but when I got it out of the box it still amazed my how small it was.Battery life is pretty good. I can go a day on a charge doing quite a few things. I think a day to a day and a half is a realistic battery figure depending on how much you use various functions. The camera works pretty well and pictures look great in normal to bright light, if the room is dimly lit it introduces quite a bit of noise into the picture. On almost no light pictures it actually works pretty well with the picture light on, still got noise but looks pretty good given the circumstances. (I may try a different camera app and see if an actual auto flash would help out) I do think that the software is the issue here and I actually was expecting better from all the marketing hype on the camera itself.Replace the stock Sony Ericsson keyboard with a full QWERTY swipe keyboard of your choice since the stock one only has a T9 dial pad in portrait mode. (like your old flip phone) I also noticed the stock swipe didn't work near as well as the others out there but that is a simple software fix id recommend TouchPal. I will admit that typing is taking a while to get used to with such a small screen. My previous phone was the Nokia E71 with a hardware keyboard that is quite good. I am a guy with small fingers so im sure after a week I will be just fine, but if you have larger fingers or love hardware keyboards you should consider this factor. Using the swipe feature got rid of most of this issueThe Timescape UI is much better than most out there, it looks good while functioning well with all the nice animations turned on by default. It is leaps and bounds better than the Samsung Touchwiz UI.If you are looking for a small phone that works well this is it.The screen is greatThe camera is goodThe battery life is average for a smart phoneThe UI is one of the bestBuild quality is quite highAgain please do a size comparison on this phone vs others. The small size is a feature of the phone so don't complain when you get it and realize that its super small. If you think your phone is like talking to a calculator and you hate it then you would be the target audience of this phone. If you have huge hands or care about screen size more than pixel density then id advise you look at the Xperia Arc or Arc S

5One of the BESTS Android phones right now.
By David
First things first: If you are someone who likes big screens on a phone then this is not for you. If you're like me and you already own devices like a computer, a big TV for movies, a laptop, a Kindle fire also for movies and stuff and you're looking for an amazing phone with EVERYTHING you need and super fast then keep reading! This is for you!I'm seriously surprised that it took me so long to find this phone while searching for a great Android phone with a front facing camera. In fact, I had to google "Best android phones with front facing cameras" to find this one and I'm really glad I did. I have owned an iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPHone 3GS, iPhone 4 (which I sold because I got tired of trying to unlock iPhones) and I have used an iPhone 4S. When I finally got tired of the iPhones and all the crap Apple pushes down our throats I decided to go find an Android phone for me and my wife. This wasn't the first one I bought, it was a Huwaei AT&T Fusion goPhone with gingerbread 2.3.5. As my first Android Phone I was really happy to discover the Android world but found some limitations with that phone: it got slow, it didn't have enough internal space for apps, the camera was super slow and the screen was so so. My wife and I use prepaid AT&T GoPhone sim cards and I wanted to find a better phone that was unlocked and had a front facing camera for video calls. I finally decided to go with the Galaxy Nexus ($440) but thankfully I was able to cancel that order after reading some reviews about the bad battery life. I also wanted something smaller so did my wife. So after some more research I found this phone here on Amazon and it was unlocked for $289! $151 less than a Galaxy Nexus and every review I found on google and youtube about this phone talked amazing things about it. I didn't find a single person that didn't like this phone and all the features. All they say is that it's small but if you don't mind a small phone then it's AWESOME! And it is. I bought two of these for my wife and myself and with Ice Cream Sandwich I couldn't be more happy with it. My wife loved iPHones but this phone has converted her to Android and we're never going back to iPHones after using this phone. Here are the pros and cons:PROS:-Screen is AMAZING. It's a 3.3 inch but the movies, photos and everything looks crisp and bright!-Has a 8.1mp camera.-Takes great photos and HD video.-Front facing camera-It has a light for taking photos (it doesn't work like a flash, you have to manually turn it on and off but I don't mind it)-I love the orb light around the Home button wich notifies of low battery, new email, new text, etc.-Design is beautiful and classy. Fits comfortably in the hand-Upgradeable to Ice Cream Sandwich!-Faster than the iPhone 4!-Super easy to use. I love Android!-The Xperia Keyboard is THE BEST android keyboard I've used. Has a lot of languages, it learns new words and the prediction and auto correction are super intuitive. You can also turn on "swipe" mode which works AMAZING.CONS:- Small screen. (If you like big phones this could be a con for some people but not for me)- Keyboard in portrait mode is a phonepad (like on older phones where you have 3 letters for each button), if you turn your phone to landscape you get the full keyboard. I have tried the phonepad and it's actually really good with prediction turned on. I feel it's faster to jump around pressing only 9 main keys than one key for each letter. Also, I'm not sure if this is an Ice Cream Sandwich new feature but you can change it so that you get the full keyboard on portrait mode AND you can turn on "gestures" which allows you to swipe.
